Before the pages heat up, I want to introduce you to the three hearts at the center of My Kind of Love. These characters aren’t just fictional — they are apart of me the author. Here’s your first look at the trio who redefine what love can hold. Included with their descriptions are songs that I associate with their personalities.
🧥 Bronsen David Raleigh (Food for Thought- Dionne Farris)

Owner of RMS, an elite international security firm based in North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park (RTP), Bronsen heads the New Orleans and Biloxi offices. He is known for sharp suits, sharper instinct, and deeply buried grief. He’s always impeccably dressed and always in control. A loving father of two teenage boys, he’s a protector. A strategist. He is the best at what he does because he compartmentalizes, rigidly separating his home and work life. Though his physical presence is intimidating, he handles his loved ones with devotion and respect.
In every aspect of his life, Bronsen moves like a man used to being obeyed, but beneath the steel is a heart still healing. He can keep a secret. And while building a life with Ynobi and Zeke, those secrets weigh on him. He learns that the true mark of strength is allowing those you love to assist in carrying life’s burdens.
🥾 Darren "Zeke" Ezekiel Barnard (The Chain- Fleetwood Mac)

Former college baseball star turned accountant, Zeke is rugged, warm, and deeply loyal. He’s the steady center to Bronsen’s storm. Jeans. Cowboy boots. No frills. No pretense. Just heart. Zeke is no stranger to loss. Abandoned by his mother as an infant and devastated by the death of his father, Zeke was raised by his grandmother, who died when he was in college. Understanding that life is short, he has always lived and loved the way he desired, regardless of others’ opinions and expectations. After the death of their partner Kyle, he and Bronsen are left to rebuild their connection. Zeke and Bronsen have been partners for seven years. They’re bonded by loss, shaped by devotion, and opening themselves up to love again — together.
In his new reality, feelings he’s never experienced, along with questions about his mother, emerge. Believing that he is coping with his grief, Zeke keeps the pain and the questions inside. As his relationship with Ynobi and Bronsen is developing, the feelings he tried to hide surface, encouraging him to seek answers about his mother and her past.
📚 Ynobi Isadora Jones (Blackbird- The Beatles, Beyoncé)

After surviving cancer and navigating infertility, Ynobi’s hoping to meet her divine partner—until the night she meets Bronsen and Zeke, she never imagined that package came as a pair. Sensual, self-aware, and deeply complex, Ynobi is a woman in transition. And the way she learns to love again will change them all. Together, they create a story that is bold, intimate, and unafraid to hold both grief and joy in the same breath.
And this is only the beginning.
I hope you love getting to know them as much as I did.
xo, Skyline
